GURGEN NERSES HOVNAN (HOVHANNISYAN)

  • Was born in 1910 on October 20 in Shushi.
  • 1933 graduated from Moscow Pedagogical Institute after V.I.Lenin.
  • 1941-1945 participated in the Great Patriotic War.
  • From 1946, he started working at the Academy of Sciences of the menian SSR.
  • 1963 received the scientific degree of doctor of philological sciences.
  • 1964 was awarded the title of professor.
  • 1954-1964 was the Director of the Institute of Literature after M. Abeghyan of the Academy of Sciences of Armenian SSR.
  • 1964-1976 headed the department of literary relations of the Institute of Arts of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR.
  • 1976 was appointed the chairman of the Library Council and director of the Fundamental Library of the Academy of Sciences of Armenian SSR.
  • 1978 head of the department at the Institute of Literature after M.Abeghyan of the Academy of Sciences of Armenian SSR.
  • Died in 2000 in Yerevan.
