TIGRAN KARO ZARGARYAN

  • Born on February 25, 1954 in Yerevan.
  • Studied at Yerevan Engineering University, specializing in digitization and management of libraries and archives. Has more than 25 years of professional experience.
  • Participated in the design of the automated network of Armenian libraries.
  • 1994-1996 worked as the head of the automation department of the Republican scientific medical library.
  • 1996-2006 worked as the head of automation department of Yerevan State University library.
  • 2006-2011 was the director of the Fundamental Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Republic of Armenia.
  • 2007-2009 worked as the coordinator of the eIFL-FOSS (free source software) international program.
  • 2008- to date the head of the “Library and Information Sources” chair at the International Scientific and Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
  • 2011-2019 was the director of the National Library of Armenia.
  • 2013 was encouraged with a letter of thanks from the Prime Minister of Republic of Armenia.
  • 2013 was awarded with Grigor Narekatsi Memorial Medal of the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Armenia.
  • 2013 was awarded with Hakob Meghapart Memorial Medal of the National Library of Armenia.
  • 2013 certificate of commendation In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Open Access in Developing Countries. “Electronic Publishing Trust for Development” Foundation.
  • 2014 was awarded with Movses Khorenatsi medal by the decree of the President of Republic of Armenia.
  • 2019 was awarded with Gold Medal of the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Armenia․
  • 2019 Scientific head of the Fundamental Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
  • 2021 to date, founding member of the executive board of “International Association of Armenian Librarians and Archivists”.
  • 2021-2022, Chairman of the Council of the “Wikimedia Armenia” NGO.
